The War Between Marvel and DC Television Infographic By The Geek Twins [Infographic]

Marvel is king of the box office, but this infographic I created shows DC rules live-action television.

Above Image: Marvel Comics vs. DC Comics infographic

The comic book companies Marvel and DC comics have been producing live-action television shows based on their books for decades. DC manages to beat Marvel at every turn. Frankly, I thought the results would be a lot closer.

While shows based on Hulk, Jessica Jones, Mockingbird, Cloak and Dagger and The Punisher are in development, Marvel has to go a long way to catch up to DC’s dominance of live-action television.

The graphic shows the number of episodes for each show based on Marvel and DC comic books. While the number of episodes a television show runs is not a complete measure of it’s success, shows that work for a large number of people get renewed. Shows that are unpopular do not.

What do you think of shows based on Marvel and DC comics? Which us your favorite? Are you surprised by the results?

Some of those shows I remember watching as a kid. (Which is why I've waited forever for a JLA movie.) Think Marvel is happy ruling the box office though.

There was a period in the forties when DC produced radio shows and a television serializations. Also, Marvel did diverse into records in the sixties.

Yeah, I think they can be happy with a few billion dollars in the bank Alex.

I used to have a huge box in my bedroom bursting with comics. One day after school it was gone! Tough love apparently.

Good point Jay! I wonder how radio would factor into this? The Superman shows alone would probably crush Marvel. Thanks for commenting!

I think they got Wonder Woman mixed up with Spider-Man on that graphic….
I think she had 82 episodes in her series… And Spidey's was thirteen.

    7. Maurice Mitchell on January 1, 2013 9:32 pm

Good question KryptoTSD. I double-checked Wikipedia and Wonder Woman ran 59 episodes and Spider-Man for only 15. The Japanese version of Spider-Man ran an astonishing 41 episodes in one year! Thanks for joining in.

Tough, Yes. Love, I don't know so much…
