Ever wonder what it would have been like to rent a starship? Here’s what would have happened if you’d gotten your wish.We didn’t make this picture. I downloaded this a while ago and can’t remember where it came from. If you’ve seen this somewhere, let me know so I can give them credit. Would you have rented from Mr. Spock?
Remember that scene in Star Wars – Episode One: The Phantom Menace when Darth Maul got cut in half and fell down a shaft? Well, it turns out he “got better.” According to SlashFilm, he’s coming back to life in the Clone Wars animated series. The idea to bring back Maul came, unsurprisingly, from George Lucas. Clone Wars supervising director Dave Filoni addresses some obvious issues, or suggests what the show will begin to address when the character returns in Spring 2012: “First of all, how does he survive getting cut in half? Plus, he fell! And also, don’t forget Obi-Wan Kenobi…
Wonder what Chynna Phillips was doing before getting voted off Dancing With The Stars? Check out the trailer for the teen sex comedy called The Invisible Kid (1998). I vaguely remember this film starring Jay Underwood as a teenager who “accidentally” invents an invisibility potion. The main point of the film seemed to be that the guy becomes a stalker spying on women. Hilarious! The trailer shows Chynna in several compromising positions including in her underwear. But, to be fair, there are a lot of scenes of guys in their boxers too, so it balances out. What do you think of Chynna’s…
The Avengers (2012) movie trailer is out and we’re going to answer ten thirteen burning questions about the film. Loki says, “You were made to be ruled. In the end. It’ll be every man for himself.” So begins the biggest trailer of the year for the biggest movie next year. It’s only 2:04 long, but any movie that costs $220 million to make has a lot of expectations attached to it. Directed by Joss Whedon, this new trailer does a lot to spark your interest. Official Synopsis: Marvel Studios presents in association with Paramount Pictures “Marvel’s The Avengers”-the Super Hero…
Update: The image attached is not of Phoenix rushing in to stop the fight. It’s after the spraying and Phoenix running to help his partner.A man calling himself the superhero “Phoenix Jones” was arrested and charged with assaulting several people with pepper spray. This is shocking news for all would-be superheros and those who say 911 is a joke. The 23-year-old man dressed in a mask and bodysuit is alleged to have attacked a group of people leaving a club. The victims say they were just playing and dancing when the man, whose real name is the unheroic Benjamin John Francis Fodor, ran…
Here are ten strange ways Transformers: Dark of the Moon and Knight Rider are connected. While the two properties have always had kind of tenuous links the recent film Dark of the Moon has cemented the connection forever. Here are ten strange connections involving Star Trek, Mustangs and Buzz Aldrin. 10. Talking and Self-Driving Cars Just to get these two obvious ones out of the way: both feature talking cars that drive themselves. Ok. I’ve said it, so we can move on. 9. Obvious General Motors Product Placement In 1980, General Motors gave the show Knight Rider the new 1982 Trans-Am which…

There are some new on-set images of the Superman costume for The Man of Steel online and I’m going to do a quick analysis to show the changes. I can summarize it by saying it’s ridiculous. He looks like a “Power Ranger.” It’s a pretty drastic shift from the traditional costume and most of the changes are unnecessary. For reference, here’s the new costume next to the traditional costume from the 1980s Superman films. This costume became the standard after the first film. Colors The blue and red colors are there, but darker and muted. Cape The length and shape…
The 90’s television show The Flash is a classic and here are ten good scenes from the fateful show. Over ten years ago, a television show based on the comic book superhero “The Flash” aired. In 1990, a year after Batman (1989) revolutionized comic book movies, Danny Bilson and Paul De Meo got together to create a television series based on the superhero. They went all out. The costume was created by veteran special effects artist Stan Winston based on the molded muscle and cowl of Batman. It featured the stylish use of color and murals from Dick Tracy (1990). They hired Emmy award-winning…
The following review was conducted via email between “The Geek Twins.” Monkey Migraine: When I saw this movie, I imagined that when the writer-director Zack Snyder sat down with his writing partner Steve Shibuya to create the script, they had the following conversation… SHIBUYA: Okay, so what do you want your movie to be about? SNYDER: Well, I want to do a movie where there are these steam punk German zombies. And I want to do a movie with giant samurai warriors with machine guns. And I want to do a sort of “Lord of the Rings” thing with orcs…

“The Wedding of River Song” (Season 6, Episode 13) was a satisfying end to a mediocre season, but at least it wrapped things up nicely. The ending of the sixth season was a bitter-sweet moment. There were many highs and lows, but nothing that really stuck in my end. No cool new villains were introduced like the “Weeping Angels.” The Silence were alright in that you couldn’t remember them after you saw them and you had to have a mark on the arm. Other than that they were more creepy than scary. That they wore suits was the creepiest part.…
Last month, we were contacted by Nathan Blackwell of Squishy Studios about his sci-fi parody web series Voyage Trekkers and we got to do an interview with him about the project. He talks about the joys and challenges of filming a science-fiction show on a low budget. If you haven’t seen it yet, here’s a description: The worst starship in the Galactic Union gets into one adventure after another. Lead by the cocky Captain Sunstrike, the exasperated Doctor and the nonchalant Commander Powell struggle to stay alive. It really is hilarious and all the actors do a great job. We’ve enjoyed all ten episodes…
We all know that “fear leads to anger” and anger leads to the Dark Side, but did you know having a dog leads to the Dark Side too? Read on and find out rules of the Jedi order you’re breaking every day. The Jedi order is a strict code of laws and rules designed to bring peace and harmony to its members. By living to the code Jedi are told to keep away from the Dark Side. Here are five rules that you break every day that would get you kicked out of the Jedi order. 1) Have No Attachments “Attachment…
The list of eight children’s shows too weird or controversial to make into live action films… Lately, there’s been a rush to make live-action movies based solely on the nostalgic value of childrens’ cartoon shows. “Hey, old guy! Remember watching The Smurfs? Now you can leave your sad, pathetic life and remember when you were a happy child watching TV!” There are pretty mixed results. Some are great (Transformers), others are just OK (The Flintstones), and some are disasters (Fat Albert). To help producers weed out potential properties for films, here are the top eight children’s shows that should never, ever be…
We could lose science-fiction forever if the genre leaves network television, and it’s almost gone. Science-fiction used to be the staple of broadcast television. Think of classic shows like Star Trek, Twilight Zone, X-Files and Six Million Dollar Man. They all started on channels like CBS, NBC and FOX. As the new fall season starts, I can’t help noticing that the number of science-fiction shows is dwindling in general, but are shrinking dramatically on network TV. The number of television shows on network TV returning stands at about two: Chuck and Fringe. There are a handful of other shows that might be…

To all you Avatar fans who wanted to kill yourselves because Pandora wasn’t real, don’t slit your wrists just yet. Director James Cameron is coming to the rescue. He’s in the planning stages with Disney to create a motion ride similar to “Soarin’ Over California.” Instead of flying over San Francisco, riders will get to fly through the skies of Pandora. Sounds pretty cool. Cameron doesn’t mention if you’ll get to ride a Banshee or if you’ll get a hair-braid to plug into it, but here’s his summary. “I definitely want to do a flight attraction of some kind. Flying…
Today’s news contain disintegrating women, pointless movie collections and a mediocre movie heading for TV. Watch A Girl Disintegrate in ‘The Darkest Hour’ Motion Poster I had never heard of these, but a company made what’s called a “motion poster” for the alien invasion film The Darkest Hour. In the film the aliens are made of pure energy (electricity) and absorb their victims. Via CinemaBlend Why would anyone Want a Collector’s Edition of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Movies? UPDATE: Several new changes have been noted in the 2011 Blu-Ray. Check the list for New to see entries. If you have a copy of Star Wars you can help build this list! Join in the conversation in the comments section! Here are all the known changes from the Star Wars releases from the movie. When I started designing the Star Wars changes infographic I originally intended it to be a chart of all the changes, and not just the major ones. Unfortunately, the list would have been too large for a chart. Many have asked for a full list. I…
This infographic shows the timeline of major changes and revisions of the Star Wars films since the beginning. Many fans are upset about the changes to the Blu-Ray release of Star Wars (Episodes I-VI), but may not realize that changes are nothing new. Changes to the release of the films have been happening since the beginning. These are motivated by creator George Lucas’ goal to make the original films closer to his vision. Here is a timeline of revisions to the Star Wars films since the first release in 1977. You can read a list of the changes here. A Hi-Res version…
Sweet Christmas, White Luke Cage is Hilariously Bad When a guy’s grandfather dies (“that’s not even the best part!”) he’s left the movie rights to Marvel’s African-American strongman Luke “Power Man” Cage. In this parody video the skinny white boy, Patrick Willems, sets out to make a film out of the 70’s star casting himself. Besides the hysterical trailer it also has reactions to the film including a fake website called “Racialicious.” This film is one bad mother…hush your mouth! I’m just talking about Luke Cage! In X-Men: First Class (2011) we’re introduced to a whole new set of superheroes and a whole set of questions about how their powers work. I’ll start off by saying X-Men: First Class is dynamite. Loved it. The movie made $352,526,305 and Rotten Tomatoes gave it a 87%. So, this isn’t based on my dislike for the film. I just hate inconsistency. So, I got a lot of flak for my diatribe against the monstrosity that was X-Men Origins: Wolverine. My post broke down all the ways that XOW contradicted the original X-Men films. A few people have asked me…
“The Girl Who Waited” is my favorite episode of the new season with its warmth, conflict and struggle to come to terms with love lost through time. Official Synopsis: Amy Pond is trapped in a quarantine facility for victims of an alien plague – a plague that will kill the Doctor in a day – as the time-travelling drama continues. The Doctor can use the TARDIS to smash through time and break in, but then Rory Williams is on his own. He must find Amy and bring her back to the TARDIS before the alien doctors can administer their medicine. Rory…

If it hadn’t been for Batman and Robin we would never have gotten The Dark Knight. Here are six reasons why. The movie Batman and Robin (1997) is horrible. We named it #4 of the worst comic book movies ever and most people agree. But, considering the film has all the ingredients of success, analyzing the failures of the movie helped teach the industry what to watch for. In that sense it’s a good thing the movie was made. After Batman Returns there was a string of mediocre to horrible superhero films. Films like The Shadow (1994) and The Phantom were weak.…
An exception to the overused homeless sign meme is this laughably accurate Darth Vader sign. The Internet is filled with funny pictures of people holding suns. Most fall in the chuckle category. I though this was the exception because it’s more thought out than most. Disabled. Vet. Clone Wars. It works. Would you give this guy money? Have you seen a funnier homeless sign meme pic? “Night Terrors” (3 1/2 stars) Season 6 Episode 9 Synopsis: Eight-year old George is so terrified he can’t sleep. His parents are unable to help, and the Doctor answers their plea. This was a good episode playing on and explaining the “scariest place in the universe. A children’s bedroom.” The Doctor (Matt Smith) gets a call from a little boy George who’s parents are beside themselves over the fact that he’s afraid of everything. A very funny scene has them go door-to-door in an apartment complex (“flat” as the British call it) trying to find the little boy. While the…
Season 1, Episode 8 ‘A Short Time in Paradise’ Last week’s Alpha’s was interesting and became my third all-time favorite (after “Cause & Effect” and “Rosetta”). Characters changed and grew.Synopsis:Hicks and Nina are entranced by a deadly cult leader named Jonas (Garret Dillahunt), whose powers are slowly killing his followers. Bill tries to persuade Dr. Rosen to have the team learn tactical maneuvers for their subsequent missions. Rachel urges her father (Daniel Kash) to go the doctor due to him showing early signs of throat cancer. For the first time we see a rogue “alpha” who actually knows about his power,…
