Ever wish you could have a mug of Klingon Blood Wine? Wish you could get addicted to Slurm?

You’ve seen them on movies and on television, drinks that sound amazing but don’t exist. Or do they?

Here some real life recipes for fake drinks from science fiction that you can make with a well stocked bar.

From Klingon Ale to Mudder’s Milk you can taste the future or just serve them at your next costume party.

Some I’ve tried and some I haven’t. So, don’t blame me if they’re nasty.

    1. Klingon Blood Wine by Drinknation

Star Trek: The Next Generation Work (Michael Dorn) Klingons Drinking Blood Wine

Made famous by Star Trek: The Next Generation

Bloodwine is a popular alcoholic beverage among the Klingons, usually served warm.  Klingon foods and beverages are serious business, and in the Star Trek universe this is no exception. On the show bloodwine is highly intoxicating. Twice as potent as whiskey. Thankfully, this drink is very different. There’s no blood in this recipe, but it’s really good stuff. Very sweet, with a kick from the tabasco and spiced rum.

    Ingredients

    • 1 oz. Rum, spiced (Captain Morgan’s)
    • 1 oz. Tequila, gold (Jose Cuervo Especial)
    • Fill with Cranberry Juice
    • 1 dash Grenadine
    • 2 dashes Tabasco Sauce

    Mixing Instructions

    1. Add tabasco sauce to an ice-filled beer mug or glass.
    2. Pour in the tequila, rum and grenadine, and fill with cranberry juice.
    3. Shake twice and serve.

Tip: Sweeten to your own taste with Welch’s pure dark grape juice. Blend up some strawberries or raspberries to give it a thicker consistency.

    2. Slurm by The Baltimore Chop

Futurama – Bender and Fry drinking Slurm

    Made famous by Futurama

Good news everyone! “It’s Highly Addictive!” Almost. First seen on the animated show Futurama the drink is incredibly popular and actually the secretion of a giant worm. This drink recipe is definitely not addictive. In fact, its pretty gross. Too sweet and the mix of pineapple juice and schnapps are an…interesting choice. Do yourself a favor and pour it on ice and double up on the pineapple juice. Mix in a little lime jello to get the right consistency.

    Ingredients

    • 2 oz. light rum
    • 1 oz. sour apple schnapps
    • 2 oz. pineapple juice
    • 3 oz. 7 up.

    Mixing Instructions

    1. Pour all the ingredients into a large glass and stir

    3. Romulan Ale by Smith Bites

Star Trek Spock (Leonard Nimoy) drinking Romulan Ale
Star Trek Spock (Leonard Nimoy) drinking Romulan Ale

    Made famous by Star Trek

Romulan ale was a highly intoxicating alcoholic beverage of Romulan origin. I bought some when I visited the Star Trek Experience in Las Vegas. Illegal in the Federation you can mix up some and drink it now.

    Ingredients

    • Triple sec
    • Vodka
    • Blue Caracao
    • Lemonade

    Mixing Instructions

    1. Pour all the ingredients into a glass and stir

    4. Pan Galactic Gargle Blaster by AllRecipes

Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy Zaphod Beeblebrox

Made famous by Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy

Don’t Panic! Invented by Zaphod Beeblebrox, in the Douglas Adams’ novel The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy. The effect of a Pan Galactic Gargle Blaster is described as having your brains smashed out by a slice of lemon, wrapped ’round a large gold brick. It has also been described in the novel as the alcoholic equivalent to a mugging; expensive and bad for the head. This recipe should be a little less potent.

    Ingredients

    • 1 tablespoon gin
    • 1 tablespoon light rum
    • 1 tablespoon vodka
    • 1 tablespoon tequila
    • 2 tablespoons creme de menthe liqueur
    • 2 tablespoons Galliano
    • 1 cup ice cubes
    • 1 slice lemon or olive
    • Blue food coloring

    Mixing Instructions

    1. Combine the gin, rum, vodka, tequila, creme de menthe, Galliano and ice in the container of a blender.
    2. Cover, and blend until slushy.
    3. Add enough blue food coloring to make the mixture a very light sky blue.
    4. Pour into a glass and garnish with a slice of lemon or olive.

    5. Mudder’s Milk (Non-Alcoholic) by Firefly.wikia.com

    Made famous by Firefly

For your next “Browncoats” party why not mix up some traditional Mudder’s milk?  All the protein, vitamins and carbs of your grandma’s best turkey dinner. Serves three curious individuals, two nutty drunks, or one bloody nutter of a Reaver, who will ask for seconds…

    Ingredients

    • 3 “High Protein” Tiger’s Milk bars 1/3 c. unmilled, or Irish, oatmeal
    • 1 c. sarsaparilla (unspiced, unless you are brave)
    • 1/3 c. of the sarsaparilla (for later)
    • 2 bottles of root beer
    • 1 bottle of Yoo-hoo

    Mixing Instructions

    1. Unwrap and cut Tiger’s Milk bars into “pinkie-width” pieces.
    2. Put pieces and oatmeal into bowl with sarsaparilla and stir. Cover and refrigerate overnight.
    3. Once sarsaparilla and bits are soaked overnight, take one bottle of root beer and pour into saucepan.
    4. Heat to a simmer.
    5. Pour in contents of soaking bowl.
    6. Bring back to simmer, stirring until Tiger’s Milk bits soften. Take off heat.
    7. Pour in second root beer.
    8. When lukewarm to the touch, pour into blender and purée until smooth.
    9. Refrigerate for at least three hours.
    10. To serve, pour in Yoo-hoo, stir lightly, and pour into glasses.

    6. Moloko Plus by ArtofDrink

Made famous by The Clock work Orange

The Korova Milk Bar (korova is Russian for “cow”) appears in the novel and film A Clockwork Orange by Anthony Burgess. It’s a twisted version of a bar serving milk laced with drugs like Moloko Plus. Thankfully this recipe is a little less illegal.

    Ingredients

    • 1 oz Brandy
    • ½ oz Ricard Pastis
    • ½ oz Vanilla Liqueur
    • 1 tsp Orgeat
    • 1 egg white
    • 2 oz Milk or Table Cream

    Mixing Instructions

    1. Combine all ingredients with ice in shaker and shake until foamy.
    2. Garnish with a pear slice.

    7. Vitex Health Drink by eHow

    Made famous by Doctor Who

Doctor Who’s companion Rose’s fatherm Peter, creates the Vitex health drink. In a parallel world it became extremely successful and made Pete a millionaire. Maybe you can start mixing this up and make some cash?

    Ingredients

    • 1 tsp Fresh or dried vitex berries
    • 8 oz. Water
    • 1 tsp. Honey or 1/2 tsp Mint

    Mixing Instructions

    1. Measure 1 tsp. or ¾ oz. of fresh or dried vitex berries in a cup and set aside.

    2. Pour 8 oz. of water in a vessel and set on heat to boil.

    3. Fill the cup containing the vitex berries with the boiled water.

    4. Allow the berries to steep in the hot water for 10 minutes.

    5. Add 1 tsp. of honey or a ½ tsp. of chopped fresh mint to the tea, stir and drink. Vitex tea has a peppery flavor — mixing honey and mint reduces its pungency.

    6. Cool and serve cold

    8. Ambrosia by Geeky Chef

Made famous by Battlestar Galactica telvision series

So say we all! Ambrosia was made out of nectar and is said to be the food of the Greek gods. On Battlestar Galactica the drink isn’t quite as mythical, but made in prison labor camps. Toast your next reunion with this drink. If you drink enough you can get a tatoo that says, “Ambrosia’s good with a chaser. And if you have enough ambrosia– didn’t really hurt that much.” Makes 36 oz. of delicious concoction.

    Ingredients

    • 6 oz Midori
    • 4 oz Blue Curacao
    • 2 oz lime juice

    Mixing Directions

    1. Add all ingredients to the blender
    2. Add ice as directed in the owners manual.
    3. Garnish with a stemmed cherry and enjoy!

So now you know how to make the geekiest drinks in science-fiction from Star Trek to Futurama. What are you waiting for? Get out there and start drinking the geeky sci-fi way!

Is there a science-fiction drink you’d like to try? Which of these drinks would you mix up?

Slurm sounds the best to me….. but then again it isn't comming out of a slugs rear end so I would say it is a step up from Futurama's actual Slurm 😉

Ciara, this is one of those things I don't know a lot about. Theres a book on Amazon of drinks, but I did find one. Victorian Lavender Lemonade

During the Victorian era, drinking lemonade on one's porch was a popular pasttime in the summers. A "ladies-only" light luncheon may also have been served. Below is our simple recipe for lavender lemonade, a drink enjoyed during the 19th century.
      5 cups water
      1 1/2 cups sugar
      12 stems of fresh lavender
      2 1/4 cups lemon juice

      1. Boil 2 1/2 cups of water with the sugar.
      2. Add the lavender stems and remove from heat.
      3. Place on the lid and let cool.
      4. When cool, add 2 1/2 cups of water and the lemon juice.
      5. Strain out the lavender.
      6. Serve the lavender lemonade with crushed ice and garnish with lavender blossoms.

Good picks. Only one problem. Someone else has already picked Darth Maul. They picked him WITHOUT the cybernetic legs. So if you want him you have to him with the cybernetics. Oh, and one more thing. Do you know that you can mix and match characters from different series? You have a great team, but I just wanted to let you know to make sure that everyone has the same chance of winning.

I don't drink alcohol so it's Mudder's Milk and Vitex Health Drinks for me! Though I'm interested in Slurm, haha. The Welch in the Klingon Blood Wine must help with the color, though I don't see any pure 'dark' grape juice in Welch's juice flavors list.

    27. Josh Mondle on July 24, 2015 3:06 am

Why does Romulan Ale not ave Ale, and the Klingon Blood Wine have no wine?
