Yesterday, they announced two new cast members for Star Wars EpisodeVII: Crystal Clarke and Pip Anderson. They join the already announced
cast members John Boyega, Daisy Ridley, Adam Driver, Oscar Isaac, Andy Serkis, Domhnall Gleeson, Lupita Nyong’o, Gwendoline Christie and Max von Sydow, along with original cast members Harrison Ford, Carrie Fisher, Mark Hamill, Anthony Daniels, Peter Mayhew, and Kenny Baker.
They were chosen from 37,000 who attended open casting calls across the
UK and US and the 30,000 others who applied online for the parts.
Clarke brings the number of known minority actors to four. Still no
word on Billy Dee Williams returning as Lando Calrissian.

The official press release on StarWars.com
says, “The Star Wars universe has always been about discovering and
nurturing young talent and in casting Episode VII we wanted to remain
absolutely faithful to this tradition,” Kathleen Kennedy, Lucasfilm
president and producer, said. “We are delighted that so many travelled
to see us at the open casting calls and that we have been able to make
Crystal and Pip a part of the film.”

We don’t know who they’ll be playing, but here are some things we do know about the latest actors to join the Star Wars universe.

    1. Crystal Clarke, 20, was born in 1994. She was born in Belleville, New Jersey and raised in New Jersey but also lived in Nashville, Tennessee.

    2. Pip Anderson, 23, was born March 4th, 1991 and lives in Taunton, England. He’s a professional Parkour – an urban gymnastics or “freerunning” discipline – runner.

    3. Crystal Clarke, was from Newark Arts High School and won a $20,000 scholarship.

    4. Anderson married his childhood sweetheart at 18. He and Becky Butcher met at Sunday school at age nine.

    5. Clarke had her first acting experience attending an improv camp at a zoo in New Jersey.

    6. Anderson suffers from dyslexia and said school was a “pretty frustrating place.”

    7. Clarke attended a three-year acting program at the Royal Scottish
Academy of Music and Drama in Glasgow and studied Shakespeare among
other authors. She’s scheduled to graduate this year.

    8. Pip, at 17, was chosen to represent the UK in the first ever World
Freerunning Championships in September 2008. He came in fourth despite
    an injury.

    9. Clarke has appeared in two critically acclaimed short films and will appear in her first feature film The Moon and the Sun (2015) starring Kaya Scodelario, Pierce Brosnan and William Hurt.

    10. Anderson has done short films and commercials for major companies like Red Bull, Microsoft and a Spider-Man ad for Sony.

The press release also said the film is taking a “brief two-week hiatus
while adjustments to the current production schedule are made as actor
Harrison Ford recovers from a leg injury.” Star Wars Episode VII is “on track to wrap in the fall with the film scheduled for release on December 18, 2015.”

What do you think of the newest cast members
? Who do you think they’ll be playing? Are you excited for Episode VII yet?

      So young…
Impressive he got through school with dyslexia.

"Excited" is not the word I'd use. More like "dreading." I can't imagine these are very major roles if they're just casting them now while filming.

Hopefully Andersen takes that frustration as useful material in his theoretical portrayal as an evil British-accented figure. Unless he's somehow related to Obi-Wan Kenobi. But still evil???

They are beautiful people, I can't wait to see who they play. Pip married very young. I can't believe the cast they have and definitely can't wait to see how it turns out.

I'm excited, but have no clue about the actors.
That might be a good thing, then again…
