Recap Murderbot (2025): S1E06 – “Command Feed”
Intimacy can take various forms, from touch to a wrenching moment. In Murderbot’s sixth episode, “Command Feed,” intimacy is used as a tool, weapon, and necessity. Ratthi uses massage skills to maintain his position at the Kids’ Table, while Murderbot (Alexander Skarsgård) uses its growing connection with Mensah (Noma Dumezweni) to keep them alive. Leebeebee (Anna Konkle) continues her “world’s most awkward but mildly effective!” femme fatale act.
Leebeebee finds a perfect target in Bharadwaj (Tamara Podemski), who lacks Gurathin’s (David Dastmalchian) paranoia and is more easily exploitable through simple offers of kindness. The character’s manipulative nature makes her behavior less jarring. The episode highlights Murderbot and Mensah’s relationship in the broken hopper, which passes several milestones in quick succession. The first fight occurs when Murderbot discovers they can’t fix the hopper because the robot deleted the repair manual. Why? To make room for a season of Sanctuary Moon, of course. Which isn’t even “a premium quality show” according to Mensah (“agree to disagree”).
But that show helps to calm her down during a panic attack. Once again, his binge-watching helped to make up for his lack of emotions.
The show Murderbot is a smarter series than Sanctuary Moon, which primes the audience for the romantic pairing between Captain Hossein (John Cho) and Nav Bot 337 Alt 66 (DeWanda Wise). The relationship between Murderbot and Mensah is intimate, with Alexander Skarsgård and Noma Dumezweni subtly sketching the bot’s growing willingness to be vulnerable. The first surgically opens up the other person, allowing for the extraction of nerve fibers for makeshift wiring.
Dumezweni’s portrayal of Mensah is complex and faceted, making her impromptu surgery on the bot a memorable sequence. Her palpable horror at operating on a synthetic organism (“I’m a vegetarian”) is poignant and funny.
Leebeebee finally gets bored of trying to manipulate Gurathin, pulling out a gun. The show’s hostage scene is dampened by Arada (Tattiawna Jones), Pin-Lee (Sabrina Wu), and Ratthi, but Konkle, Dastmalchian, and Podemski keep the ball in the air.
Overall Murderbot (2025): S1E06 – “Command Feed”
“Command Feed” uses comedy, television, and a little bit of spine-cracking to create a deep, personal bond. The series uses MurderBot’s lack of emotions to highlight the humanity in the other characters, and it’s brilliant. And hilarious.
