MISSION IMPOSSIBLE 5 IMAX Release Date Announced

Mission Impossible II (2000) - Ethan Hunt (Tom Cruise), Luther Stickell (Ving Rhames)
The latest movie in the Misson Impossible franchise will open July 31st, 2015. IMAX is becoming a popular format for films and the next Mission Impossible film, starring Tom Cruise, is no exception. Unlike Christopher Nolan films like Interstellar and The Dark Knight Rises, which were shot using IMAX cameras, this movie will be converted to the IMAX format in post-production. The cast of Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol will be back including Tom Cruise as Ethan Hunt and Ving Rhames as Luther Stickell.

Here's the press release from Paramount in it's intirety:

  1. Hollywood is ruining IMAX just like 3D with these post production conversions and putting movies in the format that have no need for it. Like that Will Smith one Focus that says See it in IMAX and I say to myself Why?

  2. Yeah, some movies don't need it Pat but I've seen some really well done ones. The IMAX cameras are so heavy and noisy though it's almost impossible to shoot a whole movie using them. Maybe someday though.

  3. I personally think that if a film has some amazing landscape shots or the vastness of space where IMAX comes in to it's own, then it works great, but not all movies need IMAX the same as not all movies work well with 3D.
