How old can a Terminator get according to Arnold Schwarzenegger? Where can you drink Klingon ale? Who loves they’re AT-ST house? What’s the biggest movie of 2014? Find out in this week’s Geek Bits.

Above image: Terrifying Pikachu Cakes – “Twitter user Kira Hime Teitoku recently acquired some adorable Pikachu-shaped molds and decided to try her hand a replicating the picture on the product’s box using a pound cake recipe.” (via Geeks Are Sexy)

    By the Way…

I’m bringing reviews back to the Geek Bits since I never have time to do them on Saturday morning with the two kids. 🙂 By the way, hundreds are playing Geek Madness. Are you?

    9. ‘Star Trek’ Klingon Warnog beer invites fans to drink like warriors (Hero Complex)

CBS Consumer Products and the Federation of Beer announced the first official “Star Trek” beer in Las Vegas on Monday, and it’s the kind of drink designed to make fans snarl and growl as only a Klingon could. Klingon Warnog will be brewed by the Evansville, Ind.-based Tin Man Brewing Co. According to the announcement, the dunkelweizen style beer has an aroma that is “predominantly mild banana and clove” that is “supported by subtle sweet malt character from the use of Munich malt.”

“Warnog was a traditional Klingon ale, clear in color. The clone of Emperor Kahless was exposed because he could not detect the difference between real and replicated warnog. (TNG: “Rightful Heir”) General Martok often enjoyed warnog aboard the IKS Rotarran to keep him warm. (DS9: “Sons and Daughters”)” http://en.memory-alpha.org/wiki/Warnog

    8. 11 one-season sci-fi TV wonders you can watch right now on Netflix (via Blastr)

While we wait to see if freshmen series like Almost Human survive for a second year, we thought it’d be a good time to take a look back at some of our favorite one-season sci-fi wonders.

‘Terminator 5′: Arnold Scwarzenegger Details Terminator Aging, Hints at Various Incarnations (via /Film)

Arnold Schwarzenegger talks about his upcoming role in Terminator: Genesis:

“The director wants me to be exactly the same as I was in 1984. Because the person — I have human flesh, underneath is a metal skeleton — but the human flesh ages just like everyone else does. The skeleton doesn’t change. So it has to be the same body, physically the same thing, even though you may have show a little grey and all those things… So it’s very important that now I step it up with the workout. I [need to] gain an extra 5-7 pounds of pure muscle and get that body back that I had then so we can switch from Terminator to the character I play now, kind of a Terminator-protector character, so we can switch back and forth to a 25-year old versus a 35-year old versus a 55-year old, when it’s in the future of 2029. So all of this and then play around with it, the body will stay the same but the makeup will change and the hair will change.”

    3. Is a
Dark Crystal Sequel Coming? (via /Film)

The long-gestating Dark Crystal sequel is still coming along, as revealed by Brian Henson in a recent interview. “We have one written. It’s really good,” he said. However, you shouldn’t necessarily expect it to come together quickly. “We don’t have a production schedule or anything. It’s a big movie to put all the pieces together.”

Transformers Age of Extinction “the biggest movie of 2014” (via /Film)

Mark Wahlberg is really excited about Transformers: Age of Extinction. So excited, in fact, that he’s prone to getting hyperbolic. Calling Transformers “probably the most iconic franchise in movie history,” he predicted that the upcoming installment would be “the biggest movie of 2014.”

“For moviegoers all over the world, I guarantee this will take it up a notch,” he said. “It is bigger and better than the other three (films) combined.” In Wahlberg’s defense, he has reason to be optimistic. The last Transformers grossed $1.1 billion worldwide to become the second-highest grossing film of 2011. [Yahoo]

Arrow (02×17) “Birds of Prey” (Not Recommended)

WHEN THE HUNTRESS MET THE CANARY — When Frank Bertinelli (guest star Jeffrey Nordling) is arrested, Oliver (Stephen Amell) knows it’s only a matter of time before his daughter, Helena, AKA The Huntress (guest star Jessica De Gouw), returns to town. To make matters worse, Laurel (Katie Cassidy) is picked to try Frank’s case, putting her right in the path of Helena. Oliver tells Sara (Caity Lotz) he will handle his ex-girlfriend, but when Helena takes hostages at the courthouse, including Laurel, the Canary will stop at nothing to save her sister. When The Huntress and Canary meet, an epic battle begins. Meanwhile, Roy (Colton Haynes) realizes he needs to keep Thea (Willa Holland) safe, but doesn’t like the way he is forced to go about it. John Behring directed the episode written by Mark Bemesderfer & A.C. Bradley (#217).

I love Arrow, but it’s hit and miss. This one is a miss. Laurel’s addiction storyline is getting ridiculous. She’s a drunk for three months, hits bottom and then is brought back in the most inane way possible. At one point she tearfully talks about how she’s recovered from addiction, but it’s like that episode of Cosby Show when Theo has dyslexia for an episode and then they never talk about it again. The character is all over the place. On the other hand, Canary (not Black Canary) is awesome and is the best female superhero on TV. The island flashbacks are getting boring again and have no connection to the episode. Diggle fetches Arrow’s clothes like a butler. Sigh.

I thought Klingons drank blood wine? Which would probably taste pretty nasty.

I wonder if anyone else when they read that Schwarzenegger quote does a phony Ahh-nold accent in their head? I'm predicting that movie will be pretty awful.

If Transformers 4 is like Transformers 3 then I'll watch it on DVD and fast forward all the boring human parts. I mean I know they want a human star because they think that brings people in to the theater but come on, what we really want are giant robots smashing the crap out of each other so I don't know why we need to keep padding the movies with these lame humans. It was better in the old TV show where humans were secondary and the robots actually had personalities that weren't just ethnic stereotypes.

I totally spaced on Arrow this week but it sounds like I didn't miss a lot. Can they kill Laurel off already? She's become such a drag to the show, like Tommy last season and you know what happened to him. Dig needs to get a Suicide Squad show, dang it. Make it happen CW! I mean come on I've seen the previews for their other shows; they're all just awful.

    2. TS Hendrik on March 28, 2014 3:16 pm

The AT-ST cat house is wicked. I have to admire that.
It's the banana description that makes me think the Klingon draught would be nasty.

I'm cautiously optimistic about the new TMNT. They look weird but then, a humanoid version of a turtle is always going to look weird.

    3. DAVID WALSTON on March 28, 2014 3:43 pm

Great minds think alike, I posted the Bane Cat on my blog!
I expected more from Arrow (02×17) "Birds of Prey". I was hoping Felicity would play the part of Oracle since we can't have Barbara Gordon. After having an episode with him leading the Suicide Squad, Diggle is demoted to the token black guy again.
The Turtles look better than I expected. My son will make me take him to see it, all he has to compare it to is the new Nickelodeon cartoon. Maybe they will tell us the secret of the ooze.

    4. Yolanda Renee on March 28, 2014 4:44 pm

I keep trying but just can't get behind Arrow – those flashbacks are dull! Arnold as an old terminator – boring! Transformers may have a chance without Shia! Love BaneCat!

    5. Maurice Mitchell on March 28, 2014 9:55 pm

Probably the real test of a Klingon is to drink banana beer. I'm surprisingly excited about TMNT Tim. It's got great action scenes. The noses are weird, but I'll get used to it.

    6. Maurice Mitchell on March 29, 2014 12:31 am

Arrow is the best superhero show ever, but the island was better last season when it was like survivor. Most people find it best to watch the first season first.  Try it!

    7. Maurice Mitchell on March 29, 2014 1:44 am

They had two out of the three David. Kind of a gyp. Maybe he will star in the spin-off. The turtles look creepy, but I guess they always have.

    8. Maurice Mitchell on March 29, 2014 2:00 am

I don't think it's possible to read a Schwarzenegger quote without the Arnold voice Pat.

The first Transformers was great but Jazz was nothing but a stereotypical black man break dancing and swearing. So I was glad to see him go EXCEPT he died first and was never replaced with another black guy. What a ripoff.

Unfortunately they can't get rid of Laurel because they've teased she's going to become Black Canary. Although now that Oliver is dating Sara she has very little purpose on the show. She is a huge drag though. Two votes for Diggle!

    9. Tony Laplume on March 29, 2014 7:07 pm

That's a cat who has gone Ultimate Cat…I'm talking about the AT-AT one, of course…

    10. MedeiaSharif on March 29, 2014 10:09 pm

I love anything kitty related. That house is strange, though.
