Who was nominated for a “Razzie”? What would happen is R2-D2 were a minion? When will 60s Batman finally hit DVD?

Find out all of the Internet’s greatest moments in this week’s “Geek Bits.”

    Links

    10. 34th RAZZIE Nominations Announced (via He Geek She Geek)

The “Golden Raspberry” worst movie awards were announced and here are the genre films nominated. Hit the link for the rest.

    1. Worst picture: After Earth
    2. Worst actor: Jaden Smith, After Earth
    3. Worst supporting actress: Lady Gaga, Machete Kills

    9. A World Without Wonder Woman?(via Black Girl Nerds)

A well-written article about the need for Wonder Woman to shine.

    8. Surprising No One, the CW’s Young Wonder Woman Show Has Been Scrapped(via The Mary Sue)

“We did not go forward with it,” says CW president Mark Pedowitz of the previously-in-development Wonder Woman origin series Amazon.

But Warner Bros. doesn’t at this point have the intestinal fortitude
to dive in to an interconnected universe franchise that bridges the
    small and big screens.

    …

Despite moving forward with a the Flash television show, they show no sign that the Arrow universe is connected to the Man of Steel one. Pedowitz still thinks Wonder Woman would work on TV. Maybe, you know, because she already has.

It all depends on the script. We were very careful with Arrow, and we’re being very careful with Flash. These are iconic characters, so we’re going to be very careful with Wonder Woman. You only get one shot before you get bit.

Well, unless you’re The Fantastic Four, who got a sequel after a bust of a first movie. Or if you’re Ghostrider. Or The Flash.

    6. 1960s Batman Series Finally Hitting DVD(via Empire News)

Very excited @WBHomeEnt is releasing the Batman ’66 Complete TV Series in 2014! The seat smells like Adam West: http://t.co/cqWjlpW1Gn

    — Conan O’Brien (@ConanOBrien) January 15, 2014

It was never even released to VHS, let
alone as any sort of shiny disc, but the wait is now finally over. The
1960s Batman TV series starring Adam West and Burt Ward will be
released as a box set by Warner Bros. Home Entertainment sometime
    during 2014. KAPOW! BOFF! ZWAP!

The reasons stem from a tortuous rights and clearances situation: a
puzzle so fiendish it’s worthy of The Riddler himself (as long as he’s
played by Frank Gorshin, obviously; or John Astin at a push). Some say
the problem was the joint ownership between three companies: Greenway
Productions, and US TV networks ABC and Fox. Deborah Dozier Potter,
daughter of Greenway founder William Dozier, unsuccessfully tried to sue
Fox for withheld funds from the show in 2006.

    5. Star Wars Taun Taun Hoodie (via Geek With Curves)

The Polar Vortex has come and gone, but
you never know when you’ll face Hoth-like conditions. Be prepared with
this new awesome, smell-free tauntaun hoodie.
Just look at it! The design is made for practical uses and everyday
cosplay – it’s got to be the easiest way to dress like a tauntaun. I
mean, it even has horns and guts. It’s apparent WeLoveFine put a lot of
thought into the hoodie and included plenty of small touches. For
example, the zipper pull is a lightsaber. So, you slice open the
sweatshirt with your lightsaber to reveal and crawl into the guts! And,
the guts are made from a shiny satin material so they actually look
slimy and have a different texture from the rest of the hoodie.
    Freaking brilliant.

Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. “Seeds” Recommended

Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D Fitz (Iain De Caestecker) and Simmons (Elizabeth Henstridge) Source

Synopsis: “Coulson and May uncover startling information about Skye’s past, while the team is swept into a storm at S.H.I.E.L.D. Academy.”

Explorations of the past for some key characters help strengthen the show and set up bold action scenes.SPOILERS:
Another great character episode as Skye finally learns the secret of
her past and that she is a living 0-8-4! Amazing. Fitz-Simmons get to
be rock stars at the S.H.I.E.L.D. Academy and we see some major changes
in Coulson’s attitude towards secrecy since he discovered he has false
memories. When May says, “Grant and I have been having sex…” and then
gets cut off I busted out laughing. The villain was sympathetic as
Donnie Gill (Dylan Minnette) just wanted
to feel like he belonged. The final view of Gill with Blizzard powers
was yet another awesome setup for an upcoming supervillain. Notice that
Skye remarks on “Bucky” Barnes’ name on the wall of fallen S.H.I.E.L.D.
agents which ties into Captain America: The Winter Soldier.

    Arrow “Blast Radius” (02×10) Recommended

Arrow (2013) Arrow (Stephen Amell) – Source

    Synopsis: “ARROW HUNTS DOWN SHRAPNEL
    — Oliver must tackle a new threat to the city when bombs start to go
off in Starling City.  Felicity (Emily Bett Rickards) discovers
the person setting them off is Mark Sheffner (guest star Sean Maher), a
man who goes by the nickname Shrapnel.  Arrow discovers Shrapnel’s
next target is Sebastian Blood’s (guest star Kevin Alejandro) “Unity
Rally” and tries to talk the alderman out of hosting it, but he
refuses.  Arrow sets off to stop the bombing, but Shrapnel tricks
him and traps him in a bomb-laced antique store where he is unable to
move without setting off the device.  While Felicity helps Oliver,
Diggle (David Ramsey) races to the plaza to find the bomb before it
goes off.  Meanwhile, Roy (Colton Haynes) continues to hide his
new strength from Thea (Willa Holland) but, after she witnesses his
super strength in action at the rally, she demands answers.
Laurel’s (Katie Cassidy) suspicions about Sebastian grow stronger once
she learns that he grew up with Cyrus Gold, the man who killed Lance’s
(Paul Blackthorne) partner.  After Donner (guest Star Dylan Bruce)
refuses to help her investigate, she turns to Arrow (Stephen Amell) for
help.  Rob Hardy directed the episode written by Jake Coburn &
    Keto Shimizu.”

Great action and character conflict make this a strong episode.

SPOILERS: While I was disappointed Shrapnel, played by Firefly’s
Sean Maher, didn’t turn out to have superpowers this was another strong
episode. Felicity is visiting the comatose Barry Allen in Central City
which shows she’ll be the bridge between Arrow and the new Flash show. The flashbacks on the island finally explain how Slade turned evil and how dangerous “The Miracle” (Mirakuru) really is. Seeing
Arrow racing through the city and Shrapnel’s death traps are the
highlights. Plus, Roy has amazing superpowers and is obviously going to
be much more that just an Arrow sidekick. Not much for Diggle to do in
this episode, but he still nailed it.

The Nathan Fillion shirt is awesome! That is too funny.
Wonder Woman will never get made at this point.
And I predict After Earth will make a Razzy sweep.

    3. DAVID WALSTON on January 17, 2014 1:31 pm

      Great links as usual!
S.H.I.E.L.D. is still good, but I think it is main focus is to distract you between Marvel movies. It has good twists, but lacks the action that Arrow has produced. Arrow uses the DC characters better, and even includes major ones like Deathstroke. I was disappointed that Sean Maher and Summer Glau didn't share a scene…that would be too much awesomeness to contain. The Doctor and River back together again.

    4. MedeiaSharif on January 17, 2014 1:51 pm

Lol @ the t-shirt and those stills are amazing.

I'll check out some of these links.

    5. Pat Dilloway on January 17, 2014 1:57 pm

I honestly don't know why they're so gunshy about adapting Wonder Woman. They seem to think because she's a g-g-girl that the rules are somehow different. Honestly these WB/DC execs are like kindergartners afraid girls have cooties or something.

Watching that SHIELD episode I decided I'm largely too old and grumpy for the show. I just don't care about a bunch of cutesy 20-year-olds and their wacky adventures. If Coulson weren't there I would have stopped watching months ago.

    6. Rusty Carl on January 17, 2014 2:43 pm

I thought last week's Shield ep was the best of the season, which means it's okay. I watch solely out of loyalty to Marvel. I would have quit after the second episode otherwise.

That Batman at the bus stop… I love that pic. It's hypnotically beautiful. Also, I love the Minion R2. Brilliant.

As for Wonder Woman, I'd probably give that show a pretty wide latitude if they'd just put the damn thing on the air. WB really confuses me sometimes. I heard that unaired pilot from last year was one of the worst things that's ever happened in the history of the world, but I'm sure they could make it work if they tried even a little bit.

    7. Tony Laplume on January 17, 2014 3:34 pm

Yes, but does it smell bad? And on the inside???

    8. jeremy [retro] on January 17, 2014 3:36 pm

Love SHIELD… hey i wonder if you might be interested in helping on an award show for normal people… not razzies, not oscars… middle stuff.

    9. Melissa Bradley on January 17, 2014 7:47 pm

Why is everyone so afraid of Wonder Woman? I think it's because she is a lead hero and not a back up secretary like Sue Storm or Black Widow, important more for who they bang rather than what they actually accomplish. Joss Whedon took Black Widow, who was basically a silly ho in boots, and turned her into a viable hero. Now the ball-less wonders at Warner Bros and DC can't figure out how to make Wonder Woman? Hire some great female comic writers out there like Rosario Dawson. Men!

    10. Maurice Mitchell on January 18, 2014 2:55 am

Hopefully it's not too authentic. Say, what's the internal temperature of a Taun-Taun?

    12. Maurice Mitchell on January 18, 2014 5:25 am

Hey, I'm glad you enjoyed it Rod.

    13. Maurice Mitchell on January 18, 2014 5:27 am

I was expecting After Earth to get at least 5 awards.

    14. Maurice Mitchell on January 18, 2014 5:33 am

Yeah, Arrow is still better. A scene with the two of them would have been amazing! I wonder if Fillion would guest star?

    15. Maurice Mitchell on January 18, 2014 5:07 pm

Great point about Black Widow's costume Melissa. Iron Man 2 really redefined the character and the image of a female superhero. I think what studios are afraid of is that the character might be too popular. What would it do to they're demographics if they had a popular female hero?

    16. Maurice Mitchell on January 18, 2014 5:07 pm

      They're the coolest indeed Spacerguy!

    17. Maurice Mitchell on January 18, 2014 6:06 pm

I watched the unreleased pilot (it's out there if you know where to look) and it's horrible at all. In fact, it had a lot of promise.

    18. DAVID WALSTON on January 19, 2014 1:41 am

Filion did the voice for Green Lantern, maybe he could do a cameo of Hal Jordan.

    19. TS Hendrik on January 19, 2014 3:33 am

I might have to get me a Taun Taun hoodie. That's pretty spectacular.

My attitude towards Wonder Woman news is to ignore it cause inevitably it'll fall through.

    20. Maurice Mitchell on January 19, 2014 3:45 am

Stills! Amazing! I see what you did there Medeia. LOL

    21. jeremy [retro] on January 20, 2014 10:56 pm
