X-Men Ororo Monroe aka Storm (Halle Berry)

    Who’s your favorite black superhero?

It’s time for the results of last times poll and the new question.

The world of superheroes has a small, but powerful, set of minority superheroes. Next week I’ll be doing a post on the top 10 greatest Black superheroes, but here’s your chance to help make up the list. For the purposes of this list, I’m using the definition from Wikipedia:

    “Black
is a term usually referring to a racial group of humans with dark skin
color, used to categorize a number of diverse populations into one
common group. This list includes African-American characters and
characters of sub-Saharan African descent or populations characterized
by dark skin color” – Wikipedia

    So here’s the question:

By the way, you can follow the Twitter conversation below. If you tweet about this poll using hashtag #GTpoll it’ll show up in the Twitter list below.

    Tweets about “#GTPoll”

Here are the results of last week’s poll – Which is Your Favorite Movie Based on a Book? – in order of popularity:

    1. Jurassic Park
    2. Contact (1997)
    3. Dune

    4. The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy
    5. Blade Runner
    6. The Iron Giant
    7. The Andromeda Strain
    8. Children of Men
    9. Clockwork Orange
    10. The Hunger Games
    11. Planet of the Apes (1968)
    12. The Prestige
    13. Rise of the Planet of the Apes
    14. Scanner Darkly
    15. Starship Troopers
    16. The Thing (1982)
    17. Time Traveler’s Wife

Vote above and come back in two weeks for the results and the next poll.

Come back next week for the bi-weekly caption contest and comes back in two weeks for the next poll.

Do you have an idea for a poll, or have you seen a picture that needs a funny caption? Send it to us using our contact form or email us at geektwins (at) gmail.com!

Who is your favorite black superhero and why? Should they have they’re own movie?

      Falcon was my pick.

    2. Roderick T Faulkner on December 26, 2013 1:41 pm

Great list! Though I wish Michael Holt a.k.a. the modern Mr. Terrific had been included.

    3. Maurice Mitchell on December 26, 2013 5:13 pm

Good one! I almost put him in Roderick, but I wanted to keep the list short. Add him!

    4. John Garrett on December 26, 2013 5:16 pm

LOL you threw Black Vulcan in there! That's too much. Honestly I'm not partial to any of these guys. Steel would probably be the best of the lot, but I can't say he's a favorite. My fav would be Icon, although I know he hasn't been around much these days…

    5. Meradeth Snow on December 26, 2013 5:18 pm

I had to vote for Storm, because I've always loved her, though I did think Blade would also be a great addition to the list 🙂

    6. Maurice Mitchell on December 26, 2013 6:17 pm

Great choice Alex. I think we'll see more of him in the future.

Black Panther is easily the best in Comics right now

      Done!

    9. DAVID WALSTON on December 27, 2013 12:37 am

Al Simmons Aka SPAWN, although my son realy likes Cyborg.

    10. Pat Dilloway on December 27, 2013 4:50 am

Of all those John Stewart is probably the one I've read the most. I'm not sure who would win in a fight.

    11. Tony Laplume on December 27, 2013 4:12 pm

Steel from the available list, but my favorite will always be the increasingly obscure Bloodwynd.
