WRECK IT RALPH Review and Giveaway! [Contest]

Here’s your chance to read my review of the great animated film Wreck It Ralph, now on home video, and a chance to win a Blu-Ray copy!

    Above
Image: Wreck It Ralph (2012), Ralph (John C. Reilly) Vanellope von
Schweetz (Sarah Silverman), Fix-It Felix (Jack McBrayer), Sergeant
    Calhoun (Jane Lynch),

A few weeks back I finally caught Wreck
    It Ralph
, and can say it is one of the most heart-warming
movies I’ve seen in a long time.

    Wreck It Ralph
(2012) follows the adventures of the video game character “Wreck
It Ralph” (John C. Reilly), who’s the villain of the game Fix It Felix Jr. which
is a clone of Donkey Kong.
Ralph is tired of being a hated outsider living in a garbage dump, so
he goes to another video game to get a medal and be a hero. On the way,
    he visits the racing game
    Sugar Rush
and the annoyingly glitchy Vanellope von
Schweetz (Sarah Silverman). Fix‑It Felix (Jack McBrayer)
and Sergeant Calhoun (Jane Lynch) from Hero’s Duty, head into the game to find
Ralph and save all the games in the arcade from the evil Cybugs.

All Pixar movies are great (except for Cars 2 of course)
but this one reminded me a lot of Toy
    Story
. Besides bringing back great memories of classic
    retro games like Q Bert
    and Street Fighter,
it also had a great internal logic for what happens behind the video
    game screen.

Update: Tony reminded me that this movie was made by Disney, not Pixar. Go Disney!

The voice acting is great and all the characters have a
lot of life, especially the childishly hilarious Sarah Silverman.

Visually, the movie is astonishingly beautiful, especially
the saccharine world of Sugar Rush.

After the movie, I wanted to run to the arcade!

I loved this movie a lot, which is why I’m excited about this giveaway.

    Official Synopsis

From Walt Disney Animation Studios, “Wreck-It Ralph” takes viewers on a hilarious journey.  For decades, Ralph (voice of John C. Reilly)
has played the bad guy in his popular video game. In a bold move, he
embarks on an action-packed adventure and sets out to prove to everyone
that he is a true hero with a big heart. As he explores exciting new
worlds, he teams up with some unlikely new friends including feisty
misfit Vanellope von Schweetz. Featuring an all-star voice cast
including Jack McBrayer as the voice of Fix It Felix, Jr. and Jane Lynch
as the voice of Sgt. Calhoun.

I've heard nothing but good things about this film. Shame it didn't win the Oscar.

I might enter that but I don't have a blu-ray player. Anyway, I should see that at some point just for all the old video game references.

    4. Jessica Stank on March 6, 2013 3:30 pm

I took my kids to see it a few weeks ago. What a fantastic movie! It is definitely worth owning.

Looks and sounds exciting, I'm curious why Ralph's crew is running scared. Great cartoon image.

    9. Tony Laplume on March 7, 2013 3:23 pm

      This wasn't done by Pixar.

    10. Maurice Mitchell on March 7, 2013 3:47 pm

Totally right Tony! It just goes to show Disney is moving up.

    11. Maurice Mitchell on March 7, 2013 3:48 pm

They're running for a good reason SpacerGuy! Watch and see.

I was too Colin. But it won 5 "Annie" awards, so maybe that makes up for it.

    15. Maurice Mitchell on March 7, 2013 3:52 pm

I think it's a really fun movie for kids Jessica. I wonder how young is too young for this film?

    16. Maurice Mitchell on March 7, 2013 3:52 pm

That's one of the best parts Pat. Even the fake games are fun to watch.

    17. Maurice Mitchell on March 7, 2013 3:52 pm

You never know Jeremy. There are plenty of ways to win.

    18. Maurice Mitchell on March 7, 2013 3:54 pm
