Go Behind-the-Scenes of ‘Star Wars: Episode III – Revenge of the Sith’ Battle of Kashyyyk [Video]

    K Is For Kashyyyk

When George Lucas decided to set one of the battles on the home planet of the Wookies, he had no idea how much work it would take. In Star Wars, Kashyyyk is the home planet of the furry Wookies like Chewbacca. One source says that one live-action scene alone pushed the entire filming of Star Wars: Episode III – Revenge of the Sith (2005).

This Revenge of the Sith webisode below explains how much work went into the costumes and what it was like for the eight actors (Michael Kingma, Axel Dench, Steven Foy, Julian Khazzouh, James Rowland, David Stiff, Robert Cope, Peter Mayhew) to look like an army of Wookies for the battle scenes.

Plus, we get a great story by actor Peter Mayhew (the original Chewbacca) on why being big meant he had to be kind.

        Timothy, Sith was epic!

Great video! It's really interesting to see all the layers of work they did to make the movie awesome, and to make the wookies come to life. Peter Mayhew is an excellent actor – being able to make Chewbacca come to life with those limited facial expressions.

    3. Maurice Mitchell on April 12, 2012 6:24 pm

Tyrean, the part about the mouth was great. Mayhew is such a great actor I never even noticed his mouth doesn't move.

Wow, that was a lot of work. Very interesting video.

Mpax, it was a lot of work. I'd hate to have to put in all those hairs one at a time.
