Here are this week’s DVD picks you’ll want to check out.

Captain America is the big release this week and you can get it in three flavors, DVD, Blu-Ray and a 3-D version for the five of you that have 3-D compatible home entertainment systems. There’s also a Jurassic Park trilogy available on Blu-Ray. While the first is a classic it’s debatable if the other two are worth watching. Cool bonus features though.

Captain America: The First Avenger (2011)

Official Synopsis: Born during the Great Depression, Steve Rogers grew up a frail youth in a poor family. Horrified by the newsreel footage of the Nazis in Europe, Rogers was inspired to enlist in the army. However, because of his frailty and sickness, he was rejected. Overhearing the boy’s earnest plea, General Chester Phillips offered Rogers the opportunity to take part in a special experiment… Operation: Rebirth.

After weeks of tests, Rogers was at last administered the Super-Solider Serum and bombarded by ‘vita-rays.’ Steve Rogers emerged from the treatment with a body as perfect as a body can be and still be human. Rogers was then put through an intensive physical and tactical training program. Three months later, he was given his first assignment as Captain America. Armed with his indestructible shield and battle savvy, Captain America has continued his war against evil both as a sentinel of liberty and as leader of the Avengers.

The People Vs George Lucas (2010)

Official Synopsis: The People vs. George Lucas is a feature-length documentary exploring the unique, ambivalent, and sometimes conflicted relationship that Star Wars fans, for the past thirty years, continue to enjoy with the Star Wars franchise and their creator, George Lucas.

As a participatory film, The People vs. George Lucas includes celebrity interviews (shot in HD video), and interviews by and of Star Wars fans from around the globe, who sent us their footage for possible inclusion in the film. The idea was to create a fan film for and partly by fans in a style paying tribute to the YouTube phenomenon. Our objective is to examine and articulate the many contentious issues that have become an integral part of the Star Wars mystique.

The People vs. George Lucas is a unique opportunity for fans and filmmakers to voice their opinion and be heard around the globe. Together, we can show the world what it means to be a Star Wars fan. Together, we can show Hollywood how powerful we, the people, really are.

Our world premiere is now set for SXSW this March, so check in here for updates and visit our website at www.peoplevsgeorge.com.

I'm gonna get my hands on a copy of Captain America. The only one in the Jurassic Park trilogy worth owning is the first one.
