On January 23, Bryan Singer revealed that the roles of Cyclops, Storm, and Jean Grey are going to be recast for X-Men: Apocalypse. X:A is going to be set in the eighties, so it will feature younger versions of these iconic characters: Tye Sheridan as Cyclops, Sophie Turner as Jean Grey, and Alexandra Shipp as Storm. We’re most excited about the recasting of the role of Storm. Here are nine facts about this rising star.

    1. Shipp was born on July 16, 1991 in Phoenix, Arizona.

    2. Shipp is mixed race. Her father is black and her mother is white.

    3. Shipp is 5’6″

    4. She got her first manager at the age of 14, and moved to Los Angeles to pursue acting at 17.

    5. Shipp’s first movie role was in Alvin and the Chipmunks: The Squeakquel.

    6. Her first lead role was in Drumline 2: A New Beat.

    7. Shipp is best known for her role as KT Rush on the teen soap opera, House of Anubis.

    8. Most recently, Shipp played Aaliyah in the controversial Lifetime biopic Aaliyah: The Princess of R&B

    9. Shipp is also a musician who has recorded her own original songs, as well as covers on her YouTube channel.

What do you think about Shipp as Storm?

We'll forgive her the Chipmunks. She's a pretty lady.

    2. DAVID WALSTON on January 27, 2015 1:07 am

It makes sense to update all the characters since it is in the past.
Except for Logan, he is always Hugh Jackman.

    3. Pat Dilloway on January 27, 2015 2:07 am

Never heard of any of the new people they cast but then I don't watch the Chipmunks or Lifetime.

    4. Yolanda Renee on January 27, 2015 2:09 am

She's lovely! And if the franchise means to go on – they will eventually all have to be replaced????
