I’d love to hear what you think of the Internet’s strangest and geekiest moments in this week’s “Geek Bits.”

    Poll

This week’s poll question comes from
Invaluable.com, the world’s premier online auction marketplace. Invaluable offers live auctions from all over the world covering pretty much anything you could think of. They often feature all sorts of movie memorabilia as well as other great collectibles.

If you could buy any prop from a movie what would it be? Han Solo’s blaster pistol? Spock’s rubber ears? Thor’s hammer? What would your dream movie memorabilia piece(s) be? Let us know in the comments!

Star Trek: The Animated Series – “The Ambergris Element” (01×13) – Recommended

    (Source: GutterTalk Comics Blog)

Wikipedia synopsis: Captain Kirk and First Officer Spock are mysteriously transformed into water-breathers.

This episode is a fun one even though it’s ridiculously silly. The saving grace is the use of underwater equipment and it’s pretty awesome. They could never have done an episode like this in the live action series and it shows the advantage of using animation. Spock and Kirk show themselves to be an unbeatable team as usual although Scotty again shows his resourcefulness. The underlying message of violence being the last resource of less advanced civilization is one more message that Roddenberry tried hard to convey.

I'd like to own Luke's lightsaber. That building makes me think of Voyager more than the Enterprise from the elongated shape of the front part.

Pablo Hidalgo sounds like he has a realy cool job. He is basically a walking Wookieepedia.

Do you have a hashtag for it?

    5. Maurice Mitchell on May 29, 2015 10:45 pm

Great! Since we're in a goofy timeline we're trying to find the best time for everyone. Last time we used the hashtag #STTAS but we're thinking #StarTrek-TAS. We'll announce it next week. Thanks for the plug!

I'd absolutely go for one of Tenant's screwdrivers (which sounds more like a drink than anything Whovian…hmm, might have to think about that!). And San Andreas not accurate? Ya don't say! lol!

    7. MedeiaSharif on May 30, 2015 6:24 am

I want a lightsaber. I don't mind if a movie doesn't make sense in the real world as long as it's entertaining and plausible on the screen.

    8. TS Hendrik on May 30, 2015 1:39 pm

If you have a hundred million dollar budget to make a building, why not geek out? It's a pretty sweet design.

    9. spacerguy on June 2, 2015 7:25 pm

I was stunned when the underwater creature smashed the aqua-shuttle against the rocks with such ease. I can only imagine how terrified a real crew would have felt being swept up into the air, shaken and thrust back into the water like that, only to land on a rocky shoreline. Fantastic!
