I’d love to hear what you think of the Internet’s strangest and geekiest moments in
    this week’s “Geek Bits.”

    Poll

    This
week’s poll question is about National Donut Day which happens every year on the first Friday of June.
Randy’s Donuts is a landmark donut shop in Inglewood, California, near Los Angeles International Airport. Director Jon Favreau said Randy’s Donuts was the perfect place for Tony Stark to recover from his hangover. “The
idea was, ‘What’s this guy like the morning after?’ ‘Where would this
guy go if he had a hangover?’ And then the answer we came up with was
‘He would go to Randy’s Donuts.’ “

Which is your favorite donut scene
in a movie and why? Let us know in the comments!

Stunt Performers Find Love on Mad Max Set

    South
African Dane Grant was Tom Hardy’s temporary stunt double in Mad Max:
Fury Road, in the Namibian desert and met his future wife, Dayna, who
was Charlize Theron’s stunt double. “I remember that first day meeting
her in the stunt rehearsal gym. She stood out for all the right
    reasons,” said 37-year-old Dane.

    Rent Tony Stark’s Mansion

The Stark Malibu mansion in the movies is supposedly on Point Dume in Malibu. But a replica of Tony Stark’s mansion in Iron Man 3 was built on the cliffs of the Island of Ibiza. Es Vedrà is a small rocky island of the south western seaboard of the Spanish island of Ibiza. Described as “featuring
all the comforts you would expect from an Ibiza Summer Villas property,
    including breathtaking sea-views, a helipad and a dedicated A.I.
butler, Stark Mansion provides the perfect setting for a week of rest
and relaxation. Whether you are looking for a quiet spot to enjoy a
romantic getaway or a spacious pad to accommodate all of your friends,
this villa will help you make the most of your vacation.” Prices
    available only by request.

Star Trek: The Animated Series – “The Slaver Weapon” (01×14) – Recommended

Official synopsis: Spock, Sulu and Uhura are captured by the Kzinti, who are trying to learn the secret of an ancient weapon.

    This
episode is written by the great science fiction writer Larry Niven. He
wrote a short story called “The Soft Weapon” in 1967 about a series of
mysterious boxes left behind by an ancient race that an evil alien race
tries to exploit. They pretty much adapted it completely for the show
using different characters. Spock scientific curiosity for a stasis box
leads the shuttle crew into a trap and it’s wonderful to see him face
his hubris. Since the entire episode focuses on the three characters
they get the rare time to shine. When we watched the episode last week
we got a kick out of it and agreed it’s one worth watching.

If you’re on Twitter next week we’re doing a live Twitter chat of the
next episode “The Eye of the Beholder” on Tuesday, June 9, 2015 at 5:00 PM
EDT. You can watch it on Hulu or Netflix. Join us!

Mmmmm donuts. I really can't think of any other movies featuring donuts right now.

    2. Alex J. Cavanaugh on June 5, 2015 3:33 pm

About time they made Godzilla a citizen.
Cool about the stunt doubles. That movie is still batcrap crazy from start to finish. I may have to go see it a third time.
Can't think of a movie. Donuts and Simpsons are forever ingrained in my mind together.

    3. Meradeth Houston on June 5, 2015 4:07 pm

I personally think it's a travesty that Missoula (the middle-of-nowhere where I live) has no donut place. Not sure how I'll celebrate tomorrow 😉 And as much as I didn't care for 2012, the donut rolling down the road is funny! Now if only I could afford to rent the pad on Ibiza…

    4. Maurice Mitchell on June 6, 2015 12:36 am

That is tragic Meradeth, but it could be a good side job for you guys! Yes its probably a bit on the pricey side but I'm sure is worth every penny.

    5. Maurice Mitchell on June 6, 2015 12:37 am

That was the first thing I thought about two Alex and I almost put that one in. And everything over the stunt doubles in the movie did a lot of work.
