When movies pass each other as the top-grossing movie of all time, there's been a trend on congratulating each other in the paper. In 1997, when
Titanic
passed
Star Wars
as the highest-grossing movie, George Lucas took out a full-page ad in
Variety congratulating him. This is that ad (click to enlarge):
I think it's very very cool. Even though...(now please don't hate me) I am not a big Star Wars fan, But seeing this tribute I think George Lucas is a class act.
ReplyDeleteBlessings, Joanne
No problem, Joanne, we embrace all geeks here. And I agree, it's really classy
DeleteThat is great!
ReplyDeleteI've always liked how Spielberg gives nods to Lucas in his movies with strategically placed Star Wars toys.
I agree, they have an awesome relationship
DeleteVery cool! Hopefully Jim will be congratulating Joss very soon.
ReplyDeleteThat would be awesome
DeleteGeorge Lucas will always have my respect, for this and many other things.
ReplyDeleteAgreed, classy
DeleteThis darkside relief proves Lucas is a good sport. You've gotta hand it to Cameron.
ReplyDeletePretty cool
