Recently, at the Empire Awards actor Andy Serkis confirmed that he's playing Ulysses Klaw. "Well, I think I can absolutely confirm it’s Ulysses Klaw now because I think the news is out." Serkis said, "I sort of noticed that people on the red carpets sort of knew that I was Ulysses Klaw, so I thought 'It must be out then.' It was [a really minimal role], but I just loved doing it. It’s a great character." In addition to the quote Marvel also released an official character description which reads "Ulysses Klaue (Andy Serkis) is a black-market arms dealer, smuggler and gangster operating out of South Africa. He is a former acquaintance of Tony Stark’s from his weapons-dealing days and a powerful new player in the Marvel Cinematic Universe." The unusual spelling is from Fantastic Four Unlimited #1 where his father is the Nazi war criminal, and friend of Baron Von Strucker, Colonel Fritz Klaue. His son later changes his name to Klaw.
Black Panther is the first major African superhero and first appeared in Fantastic Four #52 back in 1966. He is a master fighter, has superhuman senses, is a billionaire with a geius-level intellect. He's also the spirtual leader of the highly advanced fictional African country of Wakanda. While his importance in the comics can't be overstated he's virtually unknown outside of the comics. But this could change soon. It's already been announced that Chadwick Boseman is playing Black Panther, and he'll be in Captain America: Civil War and his own standalone film in July 2018. If he shows up in Avengers Age of Ultron it would be insane!
In the comics, Klaw first appears in Fantastic Four #53 (1966) as a physicist who has been transformed into solid sound, and a sonic emitter on his right hand. In the Black Panther comics it was established that he killed T'Challa's father looking for Vibranium and is a chief adversary of his. Vibranium is a fictional metal from Marvel comics that come from a meteorite that crashed in Africa thousands of years ago. It can absorb all vibrations and sound and is extremely rare.
All these clues are pointing to Black Panther making some kind of appearance in the next Avengers movie either as a cameo or maybe an after-credits scene.
Do you think Black Panther will be in Avengers: Age of Ultron? Are you looking forward to the movie?

ReplyDeleteIt only seems logical to have Black Panther (with or without the costume) in it as Ultron is coated in Vibranium in the film.
