The next season of the web series Voyage Trekkers starts soon, so check out the new trailer!

I have exciting news, so this is a special edition post. My favorite web series is Voyage Trekkers. I heard about it last year, interviewed creator Nathan Blackwell and have eagerly looked forward to the new season. They ran a fundraising drive and it's totally paid off.

While I didn't mind the low-budget of the series, the extra money makes it even better. The new ship, the CGI, the costumes are all top notch. It looks great.

Here's the press release from Squishy Studios and the brand spanking new trailer.

Creator Nathan Blackwell and Executive Producer Tray Goodman bring Voyage Trekkers back for a second season.

March 13th, 2013, Phoenix, Arizona: Voyage Trekkers, the hilarious sci-fi comedy web series about the worst crew in the galaxy, returns for a second season on May 1st. Voyage Trekkers is a scripted series of 10 weekly episodes.

"We've really raised the bar for season two, both with the production and storytelling," says Creator Nathan Blackwell. "We doubled the amount of production days, built a starship set, and we're telling much larger stories. We really wanted to blow people's socks off!"

Voyage Trekkers follows the crew of the GSV Remarkable, the worst starship in the Galactic Union, as they strive to make a name for themselves at the bottom of the space adventure barrel. You can connect with Voyage Trekkers on  Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, Blip, Tumblr, Google+, and at voyagetrekkers.com.

"The show is our comedic love letter to the sci-fi genre," says Blackwell. "We've all watched "the best of the best" crews save the galaxy time and again, but I wanted to make a show about the idiots who absolutely sucked at what they did. Sort of like "It's Always Sunny ... In Space."

Voyage Trekkers is a comedy web series about the worst crew in the galaxy, lead by the charismatic but self-centered Captain Sunstrike (Adam Rini), with the help of the unfazed first officer Commander Powell (Logan Blackwell), and the exasperated Doctor Rena (Gabrielle Van Buren). In July of 2011 Season One was released with ten weekly episodes, garnering both awards and acclaim for it's zany and unpredictable style of humor, much like Galaxy Quest meets It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia. Created by Nathan Blackwell and Craig Michael Curtis, the show is produced by their production company Squishy Studios and Executive Producer Tray Goodman's Goodman Creative Minds Media. The Visual Effects Supervisor is David Stipes whose credits include Star Trek: The Next Generation, Deep Space Nine, Voyager, Battlestar Galactica (original series), and Buck Rogers in the 25th Century.
