'The Hawkeye Initiative' Puts Hawkeye in Sexist Poses [Comics]

There's no better way to illustrate the ridiculous, illogical, and sexist poses of women in comics than to draw men the same way. That's the mission of a unique Tumblr called The Hawkeye Initiative. Its creator Gingerhaze describes its mission this way: "how to fix every Strong Female Character pose in superhero comics: replace the character with Hawkeye doing the same thing." Once again, numerous artists have risen to the challenge. Here are some of the best examples:

  1. That's awesome, though why are they picking on Hawkeye?

  2. Now that's disturbing first thing in the morning.

  3. The Spider Girl spoof bothers me. But only because it's undeserved. That's a pose you see Spider Man in all the time. I'd say he's in that pose in a skin tight outfit a lot more than she is. But the other....yeah their a little silly and mock worthy.

  4. I agree with Comic Geek on this one with also the Black Widow pose. Not exactly a classic Spider-Man pose for BW (though it does remind me of a JRJr pose where you can see his ass and chest) but still a valid one. I get the point of this article.
Women HAVE been and are STILL portrayed poorly in comics to this day, with some "claiming" to be satirising it but that's another argument.

  5. Females in Male poses, Males in Female poses... It's awkward for everybody.

  6. I agree with most of what The Hawkeye Initiative is doing until it starts to replace Spider Girl and Spider Woman with Hawkeye or some other dude. It then makes them look hypocritical. Because Spider-Man was in those types poses when Todd McFarlane drew him. Google it, McFarlane loved putting him in poses like that. It was painful to look at and it's still painful to look at. Regardless of who it is.
